Your accounting data and company files are in good shape.<\/p>\n<p>Follow these steps to fix Error 1904 in QuickBooks and get everything back on track.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"toc-hId-1644588126\">Before you start<\/h2>\n<p>If any of these apply to you, skip to the special cases section at the bottom.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You use Bitdefender<\/li>\n<li>You recently installed Adobe Flash<\/li>\n<li>The Error 1904 message mentions QBversionTool.dll<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"toc-hId--907568835\">Step 1: Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool<\/h3>\n<p>Did you recently upgrade to a new version of Windows? If so, run the QBInstall Diagnostic tool to fix Error 1904. Otherwise, skip this step.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Ignore<\/strong>\u00a0in the message window and finish installing QuickBooks.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t open QuickBooks. This is very important.<\/li>\n<li>Restart your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Download and run\u00a0the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.<\/li>\n<li>Restart your computer again.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now open QuickBooks. If you can open and work in QuickBooks, everything is fixed.<\/p>\n<p>If you still see Error 1904, move on to Step 2.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Change your Windows account settings<\/h3>\n<p>Switch to the Windows Administrator account to change some settings.<\/p>\n<h4>Switch to your Windows Administrator account<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Windows\u00a0<strong>Start menu<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type \u201cCMD\u201d into the search. When you see the\u00a0CMD Run icon, right-click it and then select\u00a0<strong>Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type \u201c<strong>net user administrator \/active:yes<\/strong>\u201d in the command window and press\u00a0<strong>Enter<\/strong>. When the command is complete, close the command window.<\/li>\n<li>Open the Windows\u00a0<strong>Start menu<\/strong>\u00a0and select\u00a0<strong>sign out<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the account that says\u00a0<strong>Administrator<\/strong>\u00a0and sign in. This shouldn\u2019t impact any existing company file data.<\/li>\n<li>When the install is finished, open the Windows\u00a0<strong>Start menu<\/strong>\u00a0and sign out of the administrator account.<\/li>\n<li>Sign in to your usual user account.<\/li>\n<li>Open the Windows\u00a0<strong>Start menu<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type \u201cCMD\u201d into the search. When you see the\u00a0CMD Run icon, right-click it and then select\u00a0<strong>Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type \u201c<strong>net user administrator \/active:no<\/strong>\u201d in the command window and press\u00a0<strong>Enter<\/strong>. This hides your administrator account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you can open QuickBooks with your regular account, you&#8217;re good to go.<\/p>\n<p>If you still see Error 1904 QuickBooks Getting Error While Installing, we recommend reaching out to an IT professional.
