{"id":530,"date":"2019-06-06T16:44:43","date_gmt":"2019-06-06T16:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quickbookexperts.com\/Blog\/?p=530"},"modified":"2021-10-27T01:13:24","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T01:13:24","slug":"what-is-unapplied-cash-payment-income-in-quickbooks-online-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quickbookexperts.com\/Blog\/what-is-unapplied-cash-payment-income-in-quickbooks-online-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Unapplied Cash Payment Income in QuickBooks Online 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is Unapplied cash payment income in QuickBooks Online 2019 and How Unapplied Cash Payment income works in QuickBooks Online 2019<\/p>\n<p>It has to do with reporting your records on a cash basis. \u00a0It is not an account you post to, but rather a QuickBooks account to switch the reporting system from accrual basis to cash basis. \u00a0I touched upon this account briefly in an earlier post.\u00a0 See this\u00a0<strong>post<\/strong>\u00a0on cleaning up the Chart of Accounts.<\/p>\n<p>From Intuit&#8217;s official help article: \u00a0&#8220;This account is used to\u00a0<strong><u>report cash basis income<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0from customer payments that are received but not applied to any sales form. Simply put &#8211; you took the money in, but never declared the income on a sales form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Usually, the date of the payment is\u00a0<strong>before<\/strong>\u00a0the invoice date it&#8217;s applied to. Example: Receive payment today, invoice next week. It&#8217;s &#8220;unapplied&#8221; until next week when the invoice hits the books.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Note: \u00a0This is what I see most often<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"tawk.to\/quickbookexperts\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/quickbookexperts.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Screenshot-139-1.png\" alt=\"How to Fix Unapplied cash payment income in QuickBooks\u00ae Online 2019\" width=\"849\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If\u00a0an incorrect amount\u00a0is showing in this account, you&#8217;ll need to\u00a0apply the payment to an invoice dated\u00a0<strong>prior<\/strong>\u00a0to the date of the payment.\u00a0Otherwise, Unapplied Cash Payment Income is correct.<\/p>\n<p>Another possible cause is that the product or service item on the invoice is mapped to a bank account type, which will cause the amount to go into\u00a0<strong>Unapplied Cash Payment Income,\u00a0<\/strong>without actual payment being received.
