If the error only happens in one specific user, that user credential might be damaged. If so, recreate the damaged user.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<ol>\n<li>From the\u00a0<b>Company<\/b>\u00a0menu, select\u00a0<b>Set Up Users and Passwords<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b>Set Up Users<\/b>.<br \/>\n<b>Enterprise users:\u00a0<\/b>Go to the<b>\u00a0Company<\/b>\u00a0menu, then select\u00a0<b>Users<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b>Set Up Users and Roles<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b>Add User&#8230;<\/b>, then type the user name and password. Select\u00a0<b>Next<\/b>.<br \/>\n<b>Note:<\/b>\u00a0Do not use the damaged user name.<\/li>\n<li>Customize the user as necessary, then select\u00a0<b>Finish<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the\u00a0<b>File\u00a0<\/b>menu, then select\u00a0<b>Close Company\/Logoff<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Log in to the company file using the new log in credential.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"toc-hId--1104051617\" class=\"section-title\">Solution 2: Suppress your QuickBooks Desktop<\/h3>\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<p><b>Step 1:<\/b>\u00a0Suppress the Desktop while starting QuickBooks<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press and hold the\u00a0<b>Ctrl<\/b>\u00a0key.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click your QuickBooks program icon.<\/li>\n<li>Hold the\u00a0<b>Ctrl<\/b>\u00a0key until the No Company Open window shows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Step 2:<\/b>\u00a0Suppress the Desktop while opening a Company File<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the desired company file from the No Company Open window.<\/li>\n<li>Press and hold the\u00a0<b>Alt<\/b>\u00a0key, then select\u00a0<b>Open<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>If you are prompted for your log in information, release the Alt key, then enter youruser name and password.<br \/>\n<b>Important:<\/b>\u00a0If you are not prompted for your user name and password, do not release the Alt key.<\/li>\n<li>Press and hold the\u00a0<b>Alt\u00a0<\/b>key, then select\u00a0<b>OK<\/b>. Do not release the Alt key until your file is completely open.<br \/>\n<b>Note:<\/b>\u00a0QuickBooks will display a blank screen. If you can highlight a QuickBooks menu by just hovering your pointer to it, your company file is completely open.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"toc-hId-638758718\" class=\"section-title\">Solution 3: Open a sample company file<\/h3>\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<p>Opening a sample company file helps you identify if the problem lies with your company file or with QuickBooks itself.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the sample file opens, your company file may be damaged or the folder where the company file is saved is damaged. Try\u00a0copying the file to a different location.<\/li>\n<li>If the error persists, use a\u00a0recent backup\u00a0or\u00a0ADR\u00a0to restore your file. Perform\u00a0basic data damage troubleshooting\u00a0if your backup or ADR is not enough to get you back on track.<\/li>\n<li>If the sample file produces the same error message, proceed to solution 4.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>To open a sample file<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the No Company Open window, select\u00a0<b>Open a sample file<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Select any sample file on the list.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click anywhere on your Desktop, then select\u00a0<b>New<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b>Folder<\/b>. Name the folder\u00a0<b>QBTEST<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the folder where the company file is saved.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the file, then select\u00a0<b>Copy<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Paste the company file in the\u00a0<b>QBTEST\u00a0<\/b>folder that you created.<\/li>\n<li>Open the company file from the\u00a0<b>QBTEST<\/b>\u00a0folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"toc-hId--1913398243\" class=\"section-title\">Solution 4: Run reboot.bat<\/h3>\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<div>Running\u00a0reboot.bat\u00a0re-registers the QuickBooks related .DLL and .OCX files which can help address unrecoverable errors.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"toc-hId--170587908\" class=\"section-title\">Solution 5: Troubleshoot the QuickBooks Desktop Application<\/h3>\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<ol>\n<li>Repair QuickBooks Desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Download and run the\u00a0QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool.<\/li>\n<li>Reinstall using clean install.<\/li>\n<li>Manually repair Microsoft components.
