<\/a><\/p>\nOnce you pay a bill, it will show as unpaid if you use write checks in paying the outstanding balance. It won’t appear as paid on the bill if the payment was not recorded through Pay Bills.<\/p>\n
You can link the check to the bill, here’s how:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Change the Expense account to Accounts Payable.\n
- \n
- On the check that you created, change the Expense account to Accounts Payable.<\/li>\n
- Click the\u00a0Customer<\/b>:\u00a0Job<\/b>\u00a0drop-down then choose the vendor name. If you do not enter a name, QuickBooks will ask you to choose a vendor for the Accounts Payable line item.<\/li>\n
- Click\u00a0Save & Close<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Pay the Bill.\n
- \n
- Go to the\u00a0<\/b>Vendors<\/b>\u00a0menu and click\u00a0Pay Bills<\/b>.<\/li>\n
- Choose the Bill\/s corresponding to the Check.<\/li>\n
- Select\u00a0Set Credits<\/b>\u00a0and click on the\u00a0Credits<\/b>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
- Put a check on the credit. Change the amount as needed.<\/li>\n
- Click\u00a0Done<\/b>.<\/li>\n
- Click\u00a0Pay Selected Bills<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
