And consider how you want to see your business segmented on reports.<\/li>\n<li>Set up a class such as &#8220;other&#8221; that you can use to deliberately classify transactions that do not fit into any specific class that you have defined.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use classes for two different purposes. E.g., do not create classes for tracking office locations in addition to tracking partners.<\/li>\n<li>Identify both income and expenses for each class you set up.<\/li>\n<li>Consistently enter the class information on your forms and registers to be sure that this information is valid and useful.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Set preferences for tracking payroll using classes:<\/h2>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to set preferences for tracking payroll using classes.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the QuickBooks\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>\u00a0menu, choose\u00a0<strong>Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the\u00a0<strong>Accounting<\/strong>\u00a0icon. Then select the\u00a0<strong>Company Preferences<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Use class tracking<\/strong>. You can now assign a different class to each earnings item.
