Getting paid is faster with QuickBooks Online Payments. If you’ve just signed up and connected Payments to your QuickBooks, here’s how to accept card payments for sales receipts and invoices.
Note: Before processing payments, also make sure to choose the correct accounts for recording payments and processing fees.
Process payment for a sales receipt
- Select the Plus icon (+) at the top, then Sales Receipt.
- Select a customer (or client), then enter the sale details.
- From the Payment method drop-down, choose the card type.
- Select Enter card details.
- Enter the credit card info, or select Swipe Card.
- Select Process credit card, complete the receipt, then Save.
- You should now see a confirmation showing the status of the sale.
Process payment for an invoice
- Select the Plus icon (+) at the top, then Receive Payment.
- Select a customer (or client), then enter the sale details.
- From the Payment method drop-down, choose the card type.
- Select Enter card details.
- Enter the credit card info, or select Swipe Card.
- Select Process credit card, complete the invoice, then Save.
- You should now see a confirmation showing the status of the sale.
